Chapter 14 “This corridor is Caroline’s inspiration.” Jasper whispered as he cuddled sleeping Caroline. “It sure looks as pretty as she is.” He smiled. Then, I turned to Caroline. She lay in Jasper’s strong arms. Her face was soft and pale, her long black eyelashes fluttered and her red glossy lips twitched. She looked so beautiful, no one else could compare. Not Marilyn, not Anabel, not me either. I had been so immersed in my thoughts that I didn’t realize that Jasper was talking to me. “Alana? Alana? Alana?” His voice grew more impatient by the second. “Huh? Jasper? Oh, you’re calling me. Sorry.” I hung my head low. “Open the door for me won’t you.” He didn’t sound frustrated at all. I shoved the door opened. It didn’t make any sound for the hinge was so smooth. Jasper took a step forward while I admired Caroline’s masterpiece. The walls were draped with pale blue wallpaper and it gave the white wash doors a shine. The red carpet wound down the corridor while the antique wall lamps shone dimly. It really seemed like heaven. I could imagine Caroline and Jasper prancing about, giggling away, while Anabel and I sat on a cloud, looking at Earth. “Close the door, won’t you, Alana?” Jasper interrupted my sweet thoughts. “Fine.” I sounded irritated as I tried not to slam the door.
“What’s into you?” Jasper asked as he placed Caroline onto the couch. “Nothing, really.” I placed the shoes near the dressing table and took a seat. “Sweet dreams.” Jasper kissed Caroline’s chest. Then he turned to me when I was staring the deep blue walls. Marilyn must really like blue, I thought. “Go change into this.” Jasper instructed as he handed me an exquisite-looking paper bag. I snatched the bag from his hands and fished the dress out. “Wow.” I mumbled in amazement. I jumped up from the chair and draped the dress over the shoulders. The pink velvet felt so nice on my skin. “Go try it on. It’ll look good on you.” Jasper smiled sweetly. I half-ran, half-walked towards the bathroom. The walls were decorated with mosaics of different shades of blue. I marveled at the way it was arranged. The bathtub was cool to the touch and it was embossed with the name, Marilyn. I giggled as I ran my fingers over it. “Argh. Quickly get changed. I’ll have to stay from these pretty interior designing.” I commanded myself. Quickly, I changed out of my skimpy outfit and slipped into the gorgeous gown. I threw back my shoulders and stared at my reflection. The velvet commented my soft curves and revealed a little of my toned thighs. The turtleneck made my neck look skinner and it showed off my arms with the sleeveless parts. I placed my hand on my hop and wriggled a little to the right, a little to the left. Then, I traced the white vintage lace along on the hemming. I tried to make out the pattern. “Alana? Are you done?” Jasper called out.
“You look simply stunning.” Jasper complemented. I blushed. Jasper must have sensed it cause he burst out laughing. “Alana, you’re really very pretty today.” His face suddenly turned serious. “Thanks.” I tried to sound casual. “Alana?” he asked as he got up and took a step towards me. “Yes, Jasper?” My voice turned into a mumble. He remained silent, circling me till my back was facing the bed. “Jasper?” “Alana, you’re very attractive.” He took a step forward and I backed a step. “No Jasper.” “Yes Alana. You’ve really got me mesmerized.” “I’ll never betray Caroline.” I declared. I would never betray my friends for love. And in this case, a playboy. “There’s nothing between us.” Each step he advanced, I would step back. “No.” I protested. “I’m Jasper Mckessie, my dear.” I blushed at the last word. “Jasper?” “Yes, Alana?” He smiled so sweetly that I was momentarily dazzled. “Did anyone mention that you’re very attractive too?” We giggled. “You’re the most beautiful.” I was already sitting on the springy bed yet he inched closer. “Glib tongue.” “Oh no, my dear.” He pushed me onto the bed. He lay next to me. I turned to my right and soft glare met my curious eyes. “Alana.” He whispered softly. Then, he held me close and wrapped his arms around his waist. “Jasper.” I said the same voice. I rested my hands on his muscular arms. “Wait.” I suddenly jerked, releasing my grip. “What Alana?” “Are you sure you’re not flirting?” My eyes refused to meet his. He shoved my face towards his. “No. Never. I take you seriously.” “Don’t’ lie to me or else I’ll smack you.” I sounded gruff. “Never, my dear.” He reassured me. Then, he pushed me back onto the bed.

Chapter 13haha. no-name chapter.
“Caroline!” She yelled. “Hey Sarah, do you know that there’s a doorbell you can use?” I sounded sarcastic, pointing at the side. “Sorry. Failing short memory.” She giggled. “Friends again? Marilyn opened the door. ” “Better than ever.” I smiled. Marilyn showed us in. Her house looked like any red-bricked ones with white roofs from the outside. But the interior designing was beyond words. The sparkling chandelier gave the walls a glossy blue shine. All around the spacious hall were shelves stacked with books and the glass doors reflected the dazzling lights. There was a television in front of the long, dark blue couch. The same shade of blue as my sweater. As I shifted my head to the right, there was a polished marble dining table with six chairs draped with silk.”Nice interior designing?” Marilyn interrupted my thoughts. “Jasper’s work of art.” She smiled gleefully. “I like the grand staircase most.” I turned my head towards the elegant flight of steps. It wasn’t like anything like the narrow, dull ones like the one at my house. Instead, the width hovered around our meters, widening even further at the end. The stairs were of glittering white tiles and a red velvet carpet ran through the middle of it. “Wow. Jasper’s really good.” I muttered softly.
“Wait till you see Caroline’s house.” Marilyn turned on the switch anti-clockwise and the room dimmed. “I can’t imagine that.” I rubbed my fingers onto my temples as I tried to picture a house grander than this. Marilyn’s laugh was like the sound of flute. So soothing. “By the way, where’s Caroline?” Sarah walked towards the kitchen. “She went to pick Jasper up from Beverly Hills.” Marilyn walked up the stairs and I took a seat on the couch. I sank into the velvet-like material. So soft. “Is Anabel back?” I called out. “She didn’t call.” Sarah answered from the kitchen. Then, the doorbell rang. “See, someone knows how to use the doorbell.” I teased. “Yes, yes. I think that’s Caroline and Jasper.” I reluctantly got up from the comfortable couch and answered the door. “Hey, Alana.” Jasper kissed me on the cheek. I could feel the blood rushing to my cheeks. “Look she’s blushing already.” Caroline commented as she rested her head on Jasper’s shoulders. “Like my work of art?” Jasper asked as he wrapped his arm around Caroline’s head. “Simply glamorous.” I walked into the kitchen, leaving the couple with their own private time. “So Caroline, why did you call everyone here?” Marilyn flitted down the stairs. Suddenly, I realized that her clothes matched the theme of the house: blue. She wore a light blue vest over a long sleeved white dress that covered her knees.
“We need a formal dinner to welcome our darling.” Caroline raised her head from Jasper’s shoulder. Then, she walked towards me and hugged me. “Formal dinner for me?” I muttered in amazement. “It’s some kind of tradition.” Caroline smiled sweetly at me. “When’re Steffi and Anabel coming?” Jasper asked. “I’ll call them.” Marilyn replied, prancing towards the phone. “Hey, I’ll go get changed first.” Caroline let go of me walked towards the stairs. Marilyn nodded as he dialed the numbers on the rustic phone. All of a sudden, I felt under-dressed. It was a formal occasion and all of them were wearing evening gowns. I sighed. “Hey wait for me, Caroline.” Jasper called out, picking up the shopping bags on the floor and sprinted towards Caroline. “Darling!” He called out in a playful voice as he scooped Caroline into his arms. She started flailing her arms wildly. “Put me down!” She started screaming and kicked her high heels off. “Hush, darling.” Jasper’s kiss touched her face lightly. “Alana, pick the heels up for me.” I scampered to his side. “Thanks.” Caroline said, before closing her eyes.

Chapter 12i've given up naming the chaptersDavid had been the first guy who did not feel attracted to me. I had tried all means to get him, but in the end he fell for Rosalie. I just couldn’t understand. What was so good in her that could not compare to me? She didn’t have looks, figure, taste, brains… Anger built inside me. My tongue turned sour. “Stupid Rosalie.” My voice was muffled as I buried my head in the bed. My tears of fury stained the purple flora bed sheet. “I promise. I promise I’ll get my revenge. Rosalie, you’d better watch out.” I hissed as I narrowed my eyes. Just then, the phone rang. I wiped my tears with the back of my hand and reached out for the phone. “Alana?” A sweet voice called out. I sniffed. “Alana, are you alright?” “Yes.” I sounded as though I was on the verge of tears. “Darling, why are you crying?” “That Rosalie…” I breathed heavily. “Come on darling, don’t be so sad. Do you want to come over to my house?” “My mother…” “No need to worry.” She interrupted, “Mrs Mckessie will deal with that.” She assured me. I smiled. “Sure. Where’s your house?” “Oh no, Sarah will pick you up.” Sarah. I shivered. “You sure that she’ll not kill me?” There was chuckle over at the over side. “She’s not that vicious.” “Oh.” “See you at the sidewalk in five minutes.” “Bye, Marilyn.” She hung up.
The tense atmosphere took a change for a lighter mood. “Yeah! Yeah! Marilyn’s house!” I laughed and yelled, bouncing on my gym ball. Then, I slid towards my wardrobe, picked up a blue knitted sweater and draped it over my shoulders. “Hmm… Not bad.” I stared at my reflection. Then, I tore off a post-it and scribbled a message. “I’m at Marilyn’s house. Don’t’ cook dinner for me.” I mouthed the message. I wanted to continue but there was a honking outside. “So fast?” I wondered. I picked up my wallet and ran down the corridor. I bit my lips when I crossed Rosalie’s room. I didn’t wish to know what they were doing. “Alana!” Someone banged the door. “Sarah? Give me a minute.” I opened the door and showed her in. I stuck a magnet onto the note and grabbed a gulp of coke straight from the bottle. When I came out from the kitchen, I saw Sarah growling at Rosalie. She was at the top of the stairs, wearing David’s denim jacket over her revealing lingerie. “Let’s go. Marilyn’s waiting for us.” I tugged at Sarah’s sleeve. Both of us headed for the door. “Alana, don’t.”I could hear the desperation creeping up Rosalie’s voice.
“She’s freaking irritating.” Sarah commented as she turned on the ignition. “That’s why I need to escape to Marilyn’s house.” I added with a grin. “Uh-huh.” She kept up with me. “Her house really nice.” “Perfect for a refugee like me?” She chuckled. “Why not?” “This is your car?” I looked out of the window. “I’m not allowed to drive yet you know. I’m only fourteen.” “So am I.” “Rules are made to be broken, aren’t they?” She teased. “I break them all the time.” “Me too.” We slapped our hands in the air. “So don’t you feel offended by the Carl incident?” “You’re angry at me?” I sat upright. “Why should I?” “Because you got ticked off by Caroline thanks to me?” “Come on, I was in the wrong.” Sarah said as she stepped on the accelerator. “So no grudges?” “Let’s bury the hatchet.” She tinkled a faint smile. “Ok.” I nodded. “Marilyn’s house.” Sarah said as she pulled the brakes. The Alfa Romeo jerked violently. “Looks like you could do with some driving lessons.” I teased. “Any willing sponsors?” She shoved me forward. We giggled our way up the porch.

Chapter 11WARNING: only for people aged 13 and above. “Ah, the first day of school’s over.” I sighed as I crawled up my bed. I reached or my remote, turning on some classical music on the stereo. I seriously need to wind myself down after such an eventful day. Then, I went into the bathroom to have a long, warm shower. Flinging my bra into the laundry basket, I stepped into the bathtub half-filled with water. I splashed the warm water onto my aching shoulders and thighs. “Hmm…” I sighed in relief. Then, I pulled my thighs towards my chest and sprinkled water over my knees. After soaking for ten minutes, I went into the shower. “Oh my, this is great!” I turned the tap at full blast and the water massaged my back. It seeped through my hair, trickled down my cheeks. But I didn’t care. Instead I started singing. “If your play was to push me away, you know that day my heart you’ll break it…” My favorite song. My voice sounded like a pop star as I pranced gracefully around the bathroom. After wiping myself dry, I held the towel tightly around mu chest as I searched my wardrobe for something to wear. In the end, I wriggled into a tight-fitting dark blue tube and black shorts.
Draping my blue towel over my shoulders, I walked towards the stairs to get some snacks from the kitchen. As I passed by Rosalie’s room, I could hear chuckling and giggling. Out of curiosity, I pushed open the door slightly. “David, I love this vodka.” I heard her mutter. It was impossible. She even refuses to touch red wine. And now, vodka? Rosalie was leaning on her right hip with her head propped up by her elbow. Her left arm was stroking the light blue satin nightdress she was wearing. I’d never expected her to have such sexy lingerie. “Another glass?” David offered and I could hear the tinkling of ice cubes as she gulped it down. “It’s burning!” she started yelping and reached for a bottle of coke. I choked a smile. “She doesn’t even know how to drink” I mumbled. When she turned her body slightly, she caught a glance of me at the door and dropped the bottle. “I’m so going to tell Mom. You’d better watch out.” I threatened, shaking my index finger at her. “Like you’ve never made out before!” she rebuked. “Sucker!” I hissed as I marched down the stairs. “She spoilt my mood.” I heard Rosalie whine.
After raiding the kitchen, I only managed to find a bar of chocolate and some orange juice. “Someone’s got to restock this place.” I muttered under my breath. As I dragged my feet across the corridor, I could hear the mumbling from Rosalie’s room. I tried to walk away but my curiosity got the better of me. I peeked into the room and gasped. Rosalie ignored the straps that slipped onto her shoulders as she inched her way towards David. “Hmm… You smell so sweet today.” “Only today?” Rosalie’s voice was raised by an octave. “No dear, especially sweet today.” David wrapped his arms around Rosalie’s waist and out his upper half of his body on her. Rosalie placed her hand at the back of David’s head and their lips met each other. Then, Rosalie rested her other hand onto David’s waist. “Darling…” David whined. “Don’t talk.” Rosalie crushed his lips. I couldn’t bear to see it anymore. I shifted my eyes and ran towards my room, slamming the door hard.

Chapter 10Car ride“Alana!” Marilyn called out behind me. “Yes?” I answered in the same angelic voice as I whisked my head around. “Caroline’s heard the argument already.” She said in a dull, monotonous voice. “What did she say?” I slammed my locker. “Caroline’s giving Sarah a hard time.” I laughed nervously. “Is she out to kill me?” I added with a giggle. “I don’t know. She’d probably get as fierce as Caroline is now.” I shuddered at the thought of fierce Caroline. Marilyn broke the silence. “Is Rosalie going to send you home?” “Do you think I’ll go in that ancient truck?” I rolled my eyes. “You have taste to choose a better car to ride in, don’t you? ” “Uh-huh.” “So you won’t mind a ride from me?” she asked casually. I grinned. “Let’s hop in.” she added, leading me to the car park.
Sarah was sitting on the hood, sulking. Trying to divert my attention, I noticed Marilyn’s car. It was a glossy pale blue Volkswagen. I stared in amazement. “I’ll never be able to own something like that in my entire life.” I sighed. Marilyn sensed my thoughts and chipped in. “Pretty, isn’t it?” “Yes of course.” My answer was somewhat redundant. Any idiot would know that that’s pretty. “It’s brand-new. Caroline gave it to me. I told my mom I traded it. And she believed it,” Marilyn chuckled. “My old Honda is still somewhere in Caroline’s garage.” She smiled. I started giggling. “What’s wrong, Alana?” She seemed annoyed. “I didn’t know a goody girl like you could lie so well.” I teased. “Aw!” She let out a high-pitch cry. “Haha!” I laughed loudly, running towards the Volkswagen. “Alana!” I heard the desperation in her voice. When, I got closer to the lot, I spotted Caroline and Jasper two cars away. Jasper was playing with her hair, while she locked her arms around his waist. Caroline’s head was resting on Jasper’s chest as he muttered something softly in her ear. I wondered if Anabel would be pissed off. After all, she snatched Jasper away from Eleanor.
“Alana. Caroline?” I heard Jasper say. “Oh darling, buhbye.” Caroline hugged him tightly. “Time to go now.” Jasper ruffled her hair. Then all in a moment, Caroline hovered around me protectively. “My darling.” She started the conversation casually. “Yes Caroline?” “It’s good that you’re coming along with us.” “What?” I whispered softly but it was drowned by Marilyn’s calls. “Caroline! Did you car break down?” Caroline giggled. “No, dear.” She patted Marilyn’s shoulders. “Then why in the world are you here?” “Cause I feel like to?” “For goodness sake.” Marilyn seemed frustrated. “Fine dear, don’t be so angry.” Caroline paused to sweep Marilyn’s fringe to the side. “Anabel had an errand. She borrowed my car.” “You should have told me earlier,” she smiled, “Let’s get in.” It felt so good to with them. So carefree. So fun.

Chapter 9Carl the preyMiss Universe stepped into the spotlight, walking towards Carl. He was trying to shoot a basketball into the net but to no avail. Anabel counted the number of time it failed to go in: 17. His 18th shoot proved to be unsuccessful too. Then, Sarah snatched the ball away from him and there, a jump shot! The entire class cheered while Anabel and I giggled away. Then, Sarah turned to Carl. “Cool!” Carl said, his eyes refusing to meet Sarah’s glare. Sarah was clearly frustrated. “She’s jealous that you can capture Carl’s attention so easily, while she can’t.” Anabel whispered in my ear. I smiled. Sarah tried to be more aggressive. She hooked her arms around Carl’s neck. “Carl…” she said in a soft sweet voice. “Excuse me, please behave yourself.” Sarah refused to admit defeat. “Sarah? Sarah, please?” Carl tried to released Sarah’s grip. “Darling? You don’t love me?” Sarah was choking back on her tears. Carl detested crying. “No, you are too sweet for me, Sarah.” Carl tried to console her. Sarah started sobbing, her head buried in Carl’s chest. “Come on, darling, you know I love you.” “Really, Carl?” Sarah lifted her head and started smiling. “Yes.” He sounded tired. “Thanks Carl!” Sarah leaped up and pranced toward us. I saw Carl making a disgusted face before he caught my face. He shot me a pleading look, it seemed as though it was the it-is-not-my-fault kind of expression.
“You’re good, huh? Not bad for an immature.” Sarah scowled. “Stop it, Sarah.” Anabel pulled me away from Sarah’s vicious stare. “She’s just jealous. She doesn’t want to lose to you. She’s not going to hurt you.” Anabel reassured me. I nodded. She probably felt like me when Eleanor tried to show off her new boyfriend. That’s understandable, I thought. Then Anabel turned to Sarah. “Caroline’s going to get so angry. She’s just started. She’ll not have the skills that we have. Trust me.” Anabel started to twist her hair into a bunch of curls. Sarah placed both hands on Anabel’s shoulders after a long silence. “Then, why isn’t Carl attracted?” “Maybe you’ll need to sharpen your skills.” “Haha, very funny, Anabel.” Sarah was on the verge of tears. “Come on, Caroline and Marilyn will help.” “I’ll talk to them.” Sarah said in a soft murmur.

Chapter 8Sarah
Chemistry was such a bore but Anabel and I kept ourselves entertained by discussing where to go after school. Sarah, Anabel and I had Gym together. We were giggling like crazy while gossiping about Eleanor. Halfway through the lesson, Carl approached me. “Erm, Alana?” “Yes?” I flashed a soft smile. He blushed. He was too stumped to talk. “What is it, darling Carl?” I prompted him. “I was just wondering if you need help with Math. I’ve finished your previous assignment.” He stuttered along the way. “Oh, if I need help, you’ll be the first one on my list. Ok?” I asked as I tapped his nose lightly with my fingertips. “Ok.” He seemed a little drunk before I walked away. “Carl?” Anabel asked. “Yup, the nerd.” I replied instantly. Sarah laughed melodiously. “Maybe, I’ll try my tactics on him.” She declared. “Don’t try to steal my calculator from me.” I hissed. “A little flirting wouldn’t kill.” I thought otherwise.
Sarah was of mixed blood. American father, African grandmother and Chinese grandfather. That made her stand out. She was generally small in size for a fourteen-year-old. Her black hair draped like a short curtain over her shoulders. Her skin was much tanner, probably the genes. Her brown eyes were dull but her lips were that shade of sexy red. Fantastic to kiss. Today, she’s dressed in a pale blue frock and black tights, exposing her toned arms. Compared to Carl, she was Miss Universe.

Chapter 7My turnJust then, Marilyn and Caroline appeared from behind a row of lockers. “Anabel?” Caroline spoke angrily. “I just wanted revenge. Is it wrong?” Anabel argued. “You should have let her have firsthand experience. Revenge would be sweeter that way.” Marilyn added. I was shocked. “I thought…” My voice trailed off. “Yes?” Caroline asked gently. “I thought it was wrong to take revenged by flirting?” I could hardly hear myself. “No, not wrong.” Anabel muttered. “Why don’t you demonstrate your skills of flirting sometime? Marilyn is curious. Ok, dear?” Caroline flashed a grin at me. I became braver. “Why don’t I try it now?” I sounded confident, with a smirk on my face. “Just don’t do overboard.” Marilyn smiled sweetly.
I looked around for a victim. “Maybe I’ll go for the easy kill.” I mumbled. Then, I spotted an average-looking guy retrieving books from his locker. Then I bounced my hair twice and winked at Anabel. I pranced forward and placed my hands gently on his shoulders. He turned his head around and look shocked. I smiled sweetly. That didn’t ease him at all. “You’re so adorable.” I broke the silence, while playing with his fingers. “Alana, right?” he took the initiative. “How smart!” I drummed my fingers on his chest. “I’m Jonathan. You look pretty.” “Thanks honey.” I said, twirling my hair. “What lesson do you have now?” Jonathan asked, eyeing my empty hands. “Mr Jonathan’s lecture.” I smiled, locking my arms around his neck while taking one step forward. He giggled as I brushed his flushed cheek with the back of my hand. “My sweetie.” He said. Then, Marilyn burst the bubble by coming over, “Alana, it is time for you chemistry.” I released my grip and kissed him lightly on the cheek. “Bye darling” I mumbled. Then, I dragged Marilyn away without waiting for his response.

Chapter 6Eleanor“Sorry dear.” I walked briskly towards Anabel. “Never mind, get your chemistry books.” Anabel instructed as she pushed me gently towards my locker. I pulled out two thick textbooks and my pencil case. “Rosalie’s your sister?” She asked, leaning casually on my locker. I rolled my eyes. “Horrible sister.” I mumbled. “Then let’s not talk about her. You see that guy there? Jasper?” Anabel gestured at a boy leaning on the wall, chatting with Eleanor. Jealousy built within me again. “You’re jealous?” Anabel whispered in my ear. That wasn’t a question but a statement. Jasper was such an attractive guy and I didn’t want to lose him to Eleanor. I wanted him for myself. I clenched my fist and pulled my teeth back into a snarl. “Shhh… Alana. Let me do this.” Anabel didn’t wait for my response. Walking towards Jasper, she let go off her pink hair band and called out in the sweetest voice I’ve ever had. I relaxed my fist and now my snarl became a wow.
Eleanor and Jasper woke up from the world of their own as Jasper looked at Anabel with inviting eyes. Eleanor hissed softly. I smiled. Anabel reached out her hand and mumbled, “My darling Jasper.” “Honey.” Jasper called out, kissing her fingertips. “I love you.” “I love you too, Anabel sweetheart.” Jasper pulled Eleanor’s waist towards him abruptly. “You’re hurting me. Aw.” Anabel winked. “Honey.” Anabel locked her arms around Jasper’s neck and rested her head softly onto Jasper’s chest. I could imagine Jasper feeling Anabel’s hot breath. Then, I turned my head to Eleanor. Her face had turned tomato-red and her eyes were about to pop up from their sockets. Her jaws were tight. She shook her clenched fists. I grinned delightfully.
I started walking towards her. “Well, well, well Eleanor. What happened to Jasper? Ditched you?” I gave a shrill laugh. “You…” she shook her head in denial. I curled my hair and rolled my eyes. “I’d it’ll no longer be your Jasper.” I tried to infuriate her further. She turned her head to the couple behaving intimately. Anabel rested her head onto Jasper’s muscular chest while he stroked her blond hair. “Sweetheart Jasper.” “Sweetheart Anabel.” I heard their whispers. Then a tight slap broke the romantic atmosphere. “This smack is for being such a bitch.” Eleanor screamed. Dozens of eyes fluttered to her. Anabel pushed herself away from Jasper. Her eyes had suddenly turned black as she pulled back her lips. Then she raised her hands and prepared to strike. I thought that there was going to be another smacking sound.
Instead, she patted lightly on Eleanor’s shoulder, fixing her eyes on Jasper. “Oh Eleanor, why did you admit defeat so easily? The game’s not fun anymore!” Eleanor hissed, pulling Jasper by his collar towards her. “Tell me now, do you love me or her?” Jasper let go of her grip and wrapped his arms around Anabel. “Of course this hot chick here, Eleanor.” “Puh-lease! I’m much prettier than her! No taste! No taste! Jasper, you so don’t have taste!” Eleanor screamed with tears trickling down her cheeks, dirtying her dress. Then, she turned and walked away in a huff. She couldn’t accept rejection. I smiled. I had won Eleanor. “Thanks Jasper honey. The show you put up was great.” Anabel held Jasper close. “Anytime.” Jasper smiled, leaning forward to kiss her. Anabel broke free and muttered something. “Chemistry time. See you later.” Then, Anabel turn to me and grinned. “You must be very happy.” I nodded, smiling widely. “Chemistry now.” She said, dragging me along.

Chapter 5Anabel“Darling Alana?” Anabel called out to me as she pulled her golden wavy hair into a ponytail. Her green eyes had the same glittering effect as Caroline’s and her lips gave a glossy shine. Her heart-shaped face made her look like some sort of angel, unlike me. “Alana?” She called again, interrupting me thoughts. “Oh sorry.” I looked startled. She cupped my face with her cold yet soft hands and mumbled, “What lesson do you have later?” “Chemistry.” I muttered, my face blushing at her closeness. “Miss Derlin?” She let of her hands and picked up an apple. I nodded. “May I then have the honor of being your table partner?” “Why not?” I asked in a high-pitched voice, brushing her left cheek with my fingertips. Both of us giggled softly. “You’re a quick learner.” Anabel declared.
As I walked out of the canteen whispering softly to Anabel, Rosalie caught me by my elbow and pulled my away. “Sorry Anabel. Wait for me at my locker.” I called out before I turned to my sister. “Damn it! What do you think you are trying to do?” I hissed fiercely. Rosalie released her clutch. “You owe me an explanation.” I said in a low menacing voice. “Oh David!” I heard Rosalie fall into his arms. “Hush sweetheart, hush.” I could hear David patting lightly on her back. I ignored their intimateness and marched towards my new-found friend.

Chapter 4LunchAt lunch, I met up with my sister, having lunch with her. “Sister?” I interrupted her conversation about some stupid biology project. I could no longer catch up with the suspense. “Yes?” Rosalie smiled. Never as warm as Caroline. “Do you know who Caroline Mckessise is?” She was taken aback by the name. Her friend, whom I only know as David answered my query, “Caroline? You a freshman? Is it possible?” He started grinning from ear to ear. Rosalie beat him on his cheek and then turned to me. “Caroline is one of the most popular girl in school. She’s rich, pretty and smart. Even I am envious of her.” I nodded my head. David put his hands around my sister’s waist. “Come on, don’t be so jealous. You’re also smart and pretty.” “Did you talk to her today?” I replied instantly. “Yes.” David choked. “She never talks to freshman. She says they’re too immature.” He said, trying to imitate her voice. “Yes.” Rosalie added. “Demi was an exception.” David said, squeezing Rosalie’s hand. Rosalie looked strained, as though on the verge of tears. “Please, don’t talk anymore.” Rosalie pleaded. David pecked on her cheek and reassured her. “No more sad stories. Now, stop crying.” Rosalie wiped her face with the back of her hand. “I’m fine.” “Rosalie?” “Yes, Alana?” “To be friends with Caroline… is it considered as a privilege?” David smiled again. “It is not only a privilege, my dear, it is an honor.” Rosalie patted my cheek. “Can you imagine being in the coolest group in school?” David added. “Well, with my capabilities, I can.” I said with a smirk on my face. “Some friendship destroys you future, Alana.” Rosalie said, with her head hung low. I ignored her and started walking towards Caroline’s table. All I could hear was Rosalie mumbling. “She needs to know about Demi. She needs to know.” David calmed her down by saying, “Yes, I know.”
“Girls?” Caroline called out to her beautifully dressed friends. All of them diverted their attention to me. Caroline stood up and pulled me by my waist towards her. “Meet Alana. She’s my new-found friend.” Caroline said, smiling at me. The gorgeous looking girls grinned delightfully. Then, Caroline gestured at me to take a seat. “Alana, meet Marilyn, Anabel, Steffi and Sarah. ” Upon hearing their names, each of them winked at me faintly. I smiled back. Then, everyone tucked into their food after Caroline and Marilyn excused themselves.
